Crowning of the Western Slope's New Poet Laureate

Grand Valley Creative Alliance is partnering with the Telluride Institute and the Talking Gourds as hosts for the crowning of the Western Colorado more...0 Poet Laureate! In addition to Poets, we will be featuring Sam Speir, who will be sharing his passion of printmaking. He'll be bringing his portable printing press.

You’ll have to buy tickets to know the special knock and be admitted to the Museum of the West exhibit hall turned 1920s Speakeasy. Dance the night away with live music inspired by the 1920s with a modern twist. Bartenders will be mixing themed cocktails, and appetizers and desserts are provided for this not be missed evening of fun!

Widely known for viral videos like “Honest Football Coach,” “Every Parent at Disney,” “Brands that need to be CANCELLED” plus hundreds more. John Crist has performed all over the world and in 2021 began his multi-city national theater tour called “Fresh Cuts” selling out theaters all over the United States. John has been seen on ESPN, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, Barstool Sports, and Buzzfeed just to name a few. In 2022, John released his second special “What are We Doing” on YouTube and released his bestselling book “Delete That” in the fall. John also has a weekly podcast called “Net Positive”. When asked where he finds the inspiration to write jokes, Crist says, “I grew up in the deep south, my dad is a pastor, and I was the third of eight homeschooled children. Settle in on the lawn of Two Rivers Winery for an evening with the Grand more...0 Valley’s favorite bluegrass band in the shadow of Colorado National Monument. Bring lawn chairs and a picnic dinner. Wine will be available by the glass or bottle (no other adult beverages allowed). Tickets are $15 at Two Rivers Winery (2087 Broadway), The Art Center (1803 N 7th St) or artcenterguild.org. If not sold out, tickets at the gate are $20. All proceeds benefit the Art Center of Western Colorado. This summer’s concerts are sponsored by ANB Bank and Friends of The Art Center.
