Gina Tallman has been volunteering with KAFM since 2010. She started out helping organize the music library and officially took over her first show, Saturday Night Showcase, in January 2011. Over the years she has hosted other shows including Above Ground as well as the Community Affairs show KAFM Money Tips for three years, but she continues to host Saturday Night Showcase biweekly. She also co-produces the special feature Mesa Money Minute which airs weekdays at 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. In her spare time, Gina is a CPA who runs a local accounting firm.

I grew up listening to the radio, I can’t remember when I didn’t. Eventually got a job and bought a Decca portable stereo and began buying albums. Then came better jobs and the component stereo, the bookshelves made of stained plywood and cinder blocks, lots of albums and lots of parties. I became interested in working in radio and one day walked into a small station (that was powered by wind) and was told to come back at 1 AM the next morning. Got 1 hour of training and the next night it was all mine, from 1 – 6 AM. I couldn’t manage to read the weather without several mistakes, even though it was printed out right in front of me. But I got better and it’s still fun.
