Previewing these strategies can make you a stronger writer, and make it easier for you to reach the readers’ minds.

(Note - no specific end time) As part of GJ Pride 2024, American Lutheran Church and Colorado West Pride are hosting a public screening of the more...0 award-winning documentary "1946 the Mistranslation that Shifted a Culture." The film will be shown on the same evening as the GJ City Council's issues their proclamation in support of Pride week and the larger LGBTQ+ community. Opening in 2020 at a variety of domestic & international film festivals, the film continues to be shown all over the world to educate people about the origins of anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment. Seeking to uncover the origins of the rabid homophobia of the conservative church, a gay seminary scholar and a straight activist make a shocking discovery: In 1946 an erroneous translation of the term homosexual in the Bible that has been weaponized against the LGBTQ+ community ever since. In offering this event, ALC seeks to both assure LGBTQ+ folx that they are beloved children of God and to repudiate the harm done by churches influenced by this mistranslation.

Silverton Creates! will kick off on September 6 with our First Friday Art Walk and free outdoor Jazz in the Park featuring the Burque Jazz Bandits. A variety of creative activities are ongoing throughout the week. Experience heritage tours, hands-on art workshops, demonstrations, performances, healing arts and more! We’ll wrap up on Saturday, September 14 with a free outdoor Maker's Market in Memorial Park featuring live music and other family-friendly activities throughout the day.

And coming October 17th-19th, mark your calendar for the big annual book sale! All proceeds from the Weekend Book Sales benefit Mesa County Libraries programs, including Summer Reading, Comic Con, and Culture Fest. Based out of more...0 Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Burque Jazz Bandits bring you fun danceable music inspired by 1920’s-40’s swing jazz, with toe-tapping rhythms, sizzling instrumentals and passionate vocals. Check them out at www.burquejazzbandits.com There will be a food truck on site, and the bar will feature a few specialty cocktails crafted just for the evening as well as a selection of beer, wine and cider. Presenting the debut performance of Silverton’s own Anvil Quartet, featuring musicians Rebekah Soued-Weaver (violin), Derek Edwards (violin), more...0 Samantha Wright (viola) and Ash Hershey (cello). They will perform a selection of classical, film, and Americana pieces at Silverton’s historic Town Hall. Admission is free, but we have a suggested donation of $10 to put towards the Silverton School Music Program to train the next generation of musicians.
